The scope of the project is to elaborate a prototype of software solution using StanForD 2010 compatible harvester production data and supplementary information for automation of forest management planning, quality assessment of forest operations and reporting of sustainability indicators in forestry. A prototype of software tool using data obtained in Latvia will be developed and adopted to local conditions, including conversion tools to utilize production data of the most common harvester brands, database for data storage, tools for spatial analysis and decision support and reporting algorithms. The open-source software and development principles will be used ensuring flexibility of the elaborated tools to adopt them to different needs and to extend functionality. The scientific tasks of the project are

  1. elaboration of tools for conversion, harmonization & storage of harvester production data;
  2. elaboration of tools for spatial analysis and estimation of stand characteristics including the anomalies;
  3. development of supplementary algorithms for decision support system;
  4. elaboration of harvester production data-based decision support system.

The results of Study results will be presented in international scientific conferences and the elaborated algorithms will be substantiated in at least 3 publications in high level scientific journals. Practical recommendations will be elaborated for implementation of the elaborated tools at a company level.
