Study supported by the Latvian Council of Science
The aim of the study is to check in detail two positions based on the analysis of the industry literature and the results of research approved in previous studies:
- the determination of the absolute number of animals can be replaced by several other indirect, but subjectively less influential indicators of the state of populations and the course of development;
- the system of regulating the number of animals as "changes in the state of the population found in nature – appropriate economic behavior" (adaptive management) is more effective and easier to administer than "theoretically calculated economically permissible number – hunting limit".
