The combined seminar of the research projects LIFE GoodWater IP (Implementation of River Basin Management Plans of Latvia towards good surface water status) and LIFE is Salaca (Adaptation of Water Framework Directive and Habitats Directive harmonization and integrated actions for freshwater quality improvement in Salaca river sub catchment) was held at LSFRI "Silava" on January 25. The workshop was attended by representatives of research cooperation organizations from the Nature Conservation Agency, the Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment "BIOR", the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre and the Fishing Club "Salackrasti".
Colleagues from the partners' organizations shared with their experience on river basin management and restoration, freshwater habitats, as well as factors affecting river ecology in the context of the research project LIFE GoodWater IP, while the research assistants of LSFRI "Silava" Edijs Leoke and Mārcis Saklaurs presented the objectives and tasks of the LIFE is Salaca project, which started in October in previous year.
