Latvian State Forestry Institute "Silava" in cooperation with JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM), "Laflora" Ltd. and Latvian Academy of Agricultural and Forest Sciences organized the Latvian Forest Science Day on June 10, where more than 100 participants took part.
Latvian Forest Science Day is the tradition of forestry research communication, gathering together forestry scientists, forest industry practitioners, policy makers, students and other coteries. The seminar theme was "Carbon, forest and trees in a changing world".
The scientists of LSFRI "Silava" Andis Lazdiņš and Dagnija Lazdiņa presented the latest research cognitions on current forest regeneration and fertilization research programs, as well as Ieva Līcīte – the informative report on the LIFE OrgBalt – Demonstration of climate change mitigation measures in nutrients rich drained organic soils in Baltic States and Finland). After that there were organized field excursions and outdoor sessions at scientific research forests located on JSC "Latvia's State Forests" and swamp "Kaigu purvs" located in Jelgava district.
