The delegation of Latvian bioeconomy representatives visited Ireland to learn about Ireland's approach to bioeconomy development and to promote international experience exchange from May 13 to 15. The delegation included 21 participants from various institutions, among them research assistants of LSFRI "Silava" – Viktorija Vendiņa, Kārlis Dūmiņš, Austra Zuševica, and Toms Artūrs Štāls.
During the visit, participants explored Ireland's bioeconomy development directions, practical initiatives, and policy approaches aimed at the efficient use of renewable resources, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and sustainable development of rural areas. Special attention was given to collaboration models between the science, business, and public sectors. For the researchers of LSFRI "Silava", the visit was an important opportunity both to learn about innovative solutions in the forestry sector and to share Latvia's experience in forest science and bioeconomy, as well as to gain inspiration for implementing research projects under the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) programs.
The exchange visit was organized within the framework of the Interreg Europe project 3F GREEN MODEL and the Horizon Europe research project RuralBioUp, both focused on introducing innovative bioeconomy solutions and strengthening regional competitiveness in Europe.
