There will soon take place the 26th IUFRO World Congress "Forest and Society Towards 2050" in Stockholm(Sweden) on June 23–29 this year.

World's most influential foresters are set to be as keynote speakers at the IUFRO World Congress.

Theme "Strengthening forest resilience and adaptation to stress":

  • Andrew Liebhold, the research entomologist of Northern Research Station, USDA Forest Service, Morgantown, WV, USA, with report "Insects and diseases pose a growing threat to forest health worldwide";
  • Juliette Biao, Ph.D. and Director of the UN Forum on Forests Secretariat (UNFSS), with report "The Role of Women in the Context of the Changing Needs for the Forest Sector to Meet the Ambition in the Future".

Theme "Towards a responsible forest bioeconomy":

  • Anne Toppinen, the professor of Vice Dean of Research, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Helsinki, with presentation "Forest bioeconomy in the era of sustainability transition";
  • Martin Forsén, the Chairman of the Board SilviPar SA, with presentation "Potential of impact investing in forestry– an example from South America, South America Impact Forestry Fund, Paraguay".

Theme "Forest biodiversity and its ecosystem services":

  • Sally Aitken, the professor in the Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences, Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia, Canada, with report "Valuing diversity in uncertain times";
  • Fran Raymond Price, the Global Forest Practice Leader of WWF International (title of presentation will be published).

Theme "Forests for sustainable societies":

  • Harini Nagendra, the Director and Professor of Research Centre and Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability, Azim Premji University, India, with presentation "Thinking ecologically about cities in the Global South";
  • Cécile Ndjebet, the founder of the African women’s network for community management of forests (title of presentation will be published).

Theme "Forests for the future":

  • Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, the Professor (title of presentation will be published);
  • Isabelle Claire Dela Paz, President of the International Forestry Students Association (IFSA), with presentation "From Classroom to Canopy: Enriching Forestry Education of Secondary School Students through the School Forest Project and IFSA TreE-Learning".
