The purpose of the study is to develop solutions for limiting Acute Oak Decline (AOD) in the Talsi Hills Forest Research Station, which can be applied to the rest of Latvia as needed. Successful implementation of the objective requires cooperation with State Forest Service, LSFRI "Silava" and other stakeholders, including LSFRI "Silava" and LUA State Forest Research Agency "Forest Research Station" and JSC "Latvia's State Forests".

Anticipated results: development of methodologies / guidelines for limiting AOD in the Talsi Hills Forest Research Station area.

The tasks of study:

  1. determination of the prevalence of the disease throughout Latvia, development of a methodology for conducting forest stand surveys;
  2. analysis of AOD symptoms, influencing factors and dynamics;
  3. development of recommendations for AOD containment and management of oak stands.
