JSC Latvia's State Forests agreement No. 5.5._002t_101.15.57

The tasks of study:

  1. To assess changes in the tree growth cycle in the future climate under controlled conditions.

  2. To assess the preservation, renewal and growth of individual origins of natural but rare (linden, maple) and introduced tree species (beech, larch, red oak, Klinšukalni pine) in Latvia.

  3. To predict changes in tree growth in the future climate.

  4. To evaluate the possibilities of increasing the resistance of the forest to the effects of various abiotic and biotic factors.

  5. Under controlled conditions, evaluate the development cycle of individual (mainly spruce) dedrophagous insects and changes in their synchronicity with the development cycle of woody plants.

  6. To assess the accuracy of a wind damage model by comparing its predictions with empirical post-storm stand damage data given accurate wind speed data.

  7. To evaluate the manifestations (consequences) of epigenetic effects on trees in the first years of their growth.

  8. To organize scientific seminars, presenting the results of the project to Latvian forest sector specialists and other interested parties, as well as to prepare scientific articles.
