Project partners are Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry (leading partner; project leader Uģis Cābulis), LSFRI 'Silava' (coordinator Kaspars Liepiņš), and Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies.
The total funding of Project is EUR 2,600,000.00.

ForestRoute-LV aims to strengthen sciencebased, integrated and adaptive forest management in Latvia, enhancing ecosystem resilience, biodiversity, bioeconomy development and national economic security. Bringing together three leading research institutions, the Project will generate solutions for climateadaptive forest regeneration, mixedspecies stand establishment and longterm sustainable use of forest resources. It will advance dynamic nature conservation principles and provide evidencebased recommendations for forest policy and management.

The Study will improve the National Forest Monitoring system by introducing innovative methods such as acoustic monitoring, LiDAR, soil and habitat assessments, and by developing a Tier 3 greenhouse gas assessment approach for paludiculture systems. Separate work package will be dedicated to create innovative material prototypes from underused biomass streams, develop an ISO 13391:2025 aligned CO2 substitution effect methodology, and produce practical tools for compliance with the EU Taxonomy and RED III. Young researchers will be elucidated in methods and findings of holistic assessment of the effects arising in value chain from forest.

ForestRoute-LV will strengthen Latvia's scientific capacity, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, support earlycareer researchers, and ensure open access to data and results – providing a robust foundation for a climateresilient, sustainable and competitive forest sector.
