Šī gada 12. oktobrī notika LVMI "Silava" organizēta starptautiskā konference "Vecie meži klimata politikas kontekstā: kas ir un kas nav vecs mežs?" (Old-growth forests in the context of climate policy: what is and what is not an old-growth forest?).
Konferencē savus referātus lasīja vairāki LVMI "Silava" zinātnieki. Āris Jansons uzstājās ar ziņojumu Old-growth forests in Latvia. Daiga Zute uzstājās ar ziņojumu Many aspects of old-growth forests.
Savukārt stenda referātu sesijā LVMI "Silava" zinātnieki prezentēja šādus referātus:

Konferences ietvaros notika arī paneļdiskusija, kurā piedalījās Brašovas Transilvānijas universitātes profesors Tudor Stancioiu (Rumānija), Starptautiskās Lietišķo sistēmu analīzes institūta (IIASA) pētniece Jutta Beher (Austrija), Norvēģijas Bioekonomikas pētniecības institūta (NIBIO) pētnieks Eivind Handegard, LVMI "Silava" vadošais pētnieks Āris Jansons, kā arī divi Eiropas Komisijas pārstāvji – EK Vienotā pētniecības centra eksperts Jose I. Barredo un EK Vides ģenerāldirektorāta pārstāvis Marco Onida, kurš ir atbildīgs par veco mežu identificēšanas un aizsardzības normatīvas bāzes izstrādi Eiropas Savienībā (ES). Paneļdiskusijas ietvaros EK Vides ģenerāldirektorāta pārstāvis Marco Onida uzstājās ar ziņojumu Guidelines on Defining, Mapping Monitoring and Strictly Protecting EU Primary & Old-Growth Forests.
